Family framed with greenery in Elmhurst IL

Josh and Melisa cannot get enough of their sweet baby Nolan. That’s why they love getting professional pictures done whenever they can to document his first year. A mini family session was a perfect option for them! Even though they had professional photos done recently, they wanted another round of high-quality pictures to commemorate that Nolan is growing and changing right before their eyes.

Josh and Melisa were married in 2017 and gave birth to Nolan in October of last year. Since he was born, they have loved watching him grow and change and they cannot resist his rolls!

Melisa wanted to capture candid pictures of their family, so we set out for this beautiful location in Elmhurst. I love how Melisa’s dress popped with the purple flowers that were in bloom! Thankfully, Nolan was a willing participant and all smiles throughout the mini family session. I couldn’t be happier with the result, look at Nolan on that blanket!

It’s always great to work with families who are comfortable in front of the camera, but what I enjoyed most about the Rizzo’s is that they understand that it’s important to document Nolan’s first year with professional photos. A mini family session is a great way to get a smaller number of pictures at a lower price if you want to do sessions a little more frequently. Consider it a snack portion opposed to the entire meal.

Mini Family Sessions Take the Pressure Off

Since they had recently gotten pictures done, there wasn’t a lot of pressure to grab all of the perfect pictures. Instead, Josh and Melisa were at ease and we were able to get pictures that they have wanted. These key pictures included Melisa and Nolan together, and pictures of just Josh and Melisa. There is something special about getting dressed up, stepping out from behind the camera, and letting a photographer capture a family in whatever season they’re in. Josh and Melisa were both fantastic to work with, and I cannot wait for another opportunity to work with them on another mini family session!
